Paul Wiegartner leads our investigative team and serves as an Attorney at Law supporting all aspects of our client's legal representation needs.
Paul has over two decades of legal and investigative experience having served as Associate Legal Counsel to the FBI, a Special Assistant United States Attorney, and a Special Agent as well as Supervisory Special Agent of the FBI.
Paul joins us most recently from Labaton Sucharow, LLP where he was part of an investigative team responsible for investigating allegations of securities fraud by some of the country's largest corporations. Some of the cases Paul investigated include: the alleged manipulation of the stock market known as high frequency trading; allegations of accounting fraud by one the country's largest Real Estate Investment Trusts; bribery and FCPA allegations against a large foreign owned oil company; and the allegations of emissions test cheating by Volkswagen.
Paul previously served over 24 years as a Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. There he gained direct experience investigating white collar crime, violent crime, criminal enterprises and terrorism.
Paul counts among his career highlights: the safe recovery of an infant girl kidnapped from her mother’s arms at gunpoint; the investigation of a high-ranking bank official who was subsequently convicted on bribery and fraud charges; co-leading an investigation of a violent South American truck hijacking ring, which led to the groups dismantling, the recovery of millions of dollars worth of stolen merchandise and the conviction of 16 individuals on charges including kidnapping, armed robbery and homicide; and his work on the Joint Terrorism Task Force, Special Operations Division, investigating the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks and other terrorist threats to the United States.
Paul also served four years as a Supervisory Special Agent in the New York FBI Legal Unit. There he served as Associate Legal Counsel to the FBI where he was responsible for insuring legal compliance of FBI criminal, national security and terrorism investigations. During his tenure there he was detailed to the Eastern District of New York as a Special Assistant United States Attorney where he represented the United States in Federal District Court in all aspects of civil litigation including: discovery, motion practice, trial and appellate practice. Paul also fully briefed and successfully argued an appeal before the Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
Paul is a recipient of various awards, including the Federal Law Enforcement Foundation Investigator of the Year and the Eastern District U.S. Attorney National Security Award.
Paul received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and earned his B.S. in Accounting, with a minor in Business Law from the Pennsylvania State University, where he was also a member of the wrestling team.
Paul is licensed to practice law in New York and New Jersey.
