Claims Adjuster Charged With Stealing From Insurance Company

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown announced today that a claims adjuster for a Woodside insurance company has been charged, along with her cousin, with stealing from her employer – New York Transportation Insurance Corporation – over a two-year period by funneling more than a hundred company checks through two shell corporations created by them and keeping the proceeds. New York Transportation Insurance Corporation insures drivers of yellow cabs and the checks were intended to pay insurance claims submitted by physicians and doctors for treating insured drivers.

District Attorney Brown said, “As a claims adjuster, the defendant was placed in a position of trust by her employer. Sadly, it is alleged that she chose to betray that trust by boldly siphoning off tens of thousands of dollars with the assistance of her cousin. Such egregious conduct warrants severe punishment.”
